NAC Gallery presents “Balance,” Alejandro Urrutia’s first solo exhibition, which brings together work developed over the past year in Copenhagen, Denmark, condensed into a series of sculptural works in various formats.
Alejandro’s exploratory work delves into steel sheets, a basic and essential element present in his architectural background, as a driving force in the development of different pieces that share a common language: balance.
The material’s inherent hardness and malleability allow for the creation of geometric abstractions of the chosen models, resulting in a transformation of the sheet element into a body defined by its new form.
The exhibition is based on the fundamental principle of balance, in the alternating movement of an object and the harmony of its sections. Through folding, volumes are formed composed of a relationship between solids and voids, light and shadow. It is in this application that the immediate and broader context is activated, as well as the viewer through the material’s own reflection.
