In a global context of clashing forces and dizzying transformations, mutations are explored as forms of adaptation for coexisting in respect for everyone and everything, seeking to conceive new alliances that allow differences to flourish. Change and movement are constitutive of every life cycle, yet they also emerge abruptly, compelling us to interpret their rhythms and reflections. In “Mutations,” Alejandro proposes concrete representations arising from the incessant interplay between the form and state of the participating objects.

Change as a constant unfolds through circular, curved, concave, and convex forms that generate cycles in continuous motion. Cycles that coexist while influencing one another’s course. Mutations through form that propel the beginning of new cycles.

Mutations in state are embodied by objects that adapt to their bases alongside rocks and stone blocks—heavy elements generally anchored to the earth—which now appear suspended in the air. Thanks to gravity, the weight of the rock exerts pressure on lightweight metal pieces, allowing them to remain upright in balance. Both rock and metal creatively alternate their respective attributes in order to sustain equilibrium.

It is an invitation to reflect on mutations through their potentialities and to avoid the disenchantment of our own lightness. To find the forge of our transformative power in the reflection of what we are capable of thinking, doing, and feeling.
