For the Royal Mansour Casablanca, curated by the Atelier 27 studio in Paris, these two polished brass sculptures are conceived as a tribute to the city’s most poetic daily transformation: the sunrise and sunset over the Atlantic horizon.

Their flowing circular forms evoke the perpetual movement of the sun across the sky. Crafted in polished brass, the sculptures capture and reflect the surrounding light, allowing their appearance to shift throughout the day. As guests move around them, the mirrored surfaces reveal changing perspectives, colors, and reflections, creating an experience that is never quite the same twice.

The sculptures are inspired by the sunrise and sunset in Casablanca.

The circular movement of the Sun is a cycle that repeats, yet is never identical. The first and last appearance of the Sun transforms the atmosphere through an ever-changing spectrum of colors and light visible in the sky—an everlasting changing orchestra.

This concept is expressed through a dialogue between two forms. One sculpture suggests emergence and ascent, recalling the quiet anticipation of dawn as light gradually unfolds across the city. The other embodies the gentle descent of evening, when warm tones soften the landscape and the horizon becomes a stage for the day’s final performance.

The polished brass surface acts as a living canvas, gathering reflections from the architecture, the interior spaces, and the people who encounter the work. In this way, the sculptures become more than static objects; they are instruments of light, continuously animated by their surroundings and connected to the rhythm of Casablanca itself.

Together, they celebrate the beauty of repetition and change—the timeless cycle of the sun and the fleeting moments of light that make every day unique.
